Pregnant Platy in community- where to put her

I have a pregnant platy in one of my communities. The tank is highly planted and has lots of caves and hidey holes. Should I just let her have her babies in the big community? I know usually some/lots of the fry die. I'm just worried about not being able to find them all. Should I get a breeder box? (Not too sure how these things work.) I also have a 3g thats empty right now. Should I put her there, let her have the fry, then take her out?

Okay, I was just concerned about not being able to find some of the fry is they do not all make it- wouldn't want to get my fish sick because there are tons of dead fry.

What other fish are in the tank? I had platys that dropped fry all of the time but the fry became nom noms for the rest of the tank - even with plants to hide in.

You'll never be able to catch the fry after the fact and put them into the 3 gallon tank. You could put momma in the tank until she gives birth and then remove her and let the fry grow in the 3 gallon.

You can take your chances in the community tank and hope that a few survive. If they don't, they'll be small enough that they'll get sucked up as waste when you siphon the gravel during water changes.

I have Cherry Barbs, cories, Pearl Gouramis, Loaches, Snails, Golden Barbs. It's very peaceful- but the Goldens have been nippy lately, might put them in my other tank.

The thing is though, it's rather heavily planted, and quite hard to siphon everywhere.

Would you choose a breeder net or the 3g?
