Question Pregnant PLATY..

i just started a 10 gallon with 3 guppies (1 male 2 female) and 3 platys (1 male 2 female) both platys are pregnant and they were like that when i bought them from the store yesterday because they guy said so and they do look fat. what should i look for or how will i know when they are ready? i also have a breeder net but i heard those arnt good because they can stress them out. should i try one in the net and one just staying in the tank considering its is planted alright?... im very excited and want my fish to be as happy and comfortable as possible.

my fish looked like it's gonna explode and yet i've not seen any babies yet. i'm not planning on putting it in a net.but i got tons of places for it to hide. i don't think it's over stressful to be in a breeding net if you really want the fry's

firstly , welcome to the forum and i wouldnt put a female in a breeder net/trap at all its very stressful and if she getts really stressed then she could either loose the fry or even die......what i would do is let her give birth in the tank the just scoop the fry out with a net ...or if you really wanted to then wait till shes giving birth then move her to a breeder /net trap

good luck :):):):):):):)

During our guppy explosion we put in a floating nest type faux plant...the babies took right to it and we were able then to move them to another tank by carefully netting them out... its a two person job... lift the nest slightly keep your eyes on the fry then scoop.....we tried the small net tank with in the tank but that got kinda dirty...its much easier to feed the fry in a separate tank, Good Luck

Thanks! one of them gave birth last night while i was asleep and theres like 60 of them but i have a large live plant and they seem to be doing fine, but im very confused because the one that gave birth wasnt even that big... the other one looks like its going to explode. could she maybe have let them go early? and if so is that bad for the babies?
and also, THANKS for welcoming me this really seems like a great forum to help!
