Question Pregnant Mollie never gave birth.

My fish looks like the photos of pregnant mollies I've seen but she hasn't given birth. She's huge! I've had her for almost 2 months now. So it doesn't make any sense. Could she just be a freak branch of Mollie I've never seen. I have photos of her on my Aquarium Log Nikki Finn. I'm not sure I know what I'm asking but anticipation is killing me & I'd like it to stop.

Try separating her into a 10 gallon or larger tank with decent cover in it. Wait about 4 weeks for her to drop her fry and then we can talk about it. My own experience with this girl is that she would always look ready to drop but I would never see any fry. When I put her in a tank alone, this was the result about 2 1/2 weeks later.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Your advice really is the only way. I just upgraded my community tank so I'm starting a new one w/ old parts. I hope she can last that long. Wouldn't the fry die if they don't surface on time? Anyway. Yes. I'll check back once the cycle is in place.

The point is simple. My molly dropped fry every 5 or 6 weeks all the time and always looked pregnant. When I separated her, the fry started surviving because there were no predators except the bit of predation by the female. That is why there are so many fry around her in the picture. Those are the fry that she did not eat. There were never any left to find in the community tank.
