when i first found the fry in my tank i took a small tupperware container and put some of the aquarium water in it with an airator untill i could get to the store to get a breeders net....which was within 24 hours....also they really need a heater but my house temp is around 80 so my aquarium stays between 80 and 81 without the use of a heater....if for some reason you cant get a breeders net before she drops the fry then that may be your only chance at saving any. But remember that it is not optimal conditions and you may loose several or all of the fry if you dont get the proper set up ASAP. i dont know how many fry livebearers usually have...i only found one fry so the single breeders net to doing just fine. but if they have 40-50 babies you may need a few 10 gal set ups

if they have 40 -50 babies i know i will know they will not all survive so maybe 10-20 will survive.even if 20-30 were to survive i think i will have to only save 5-10 because i will not be able to care for them when they grow up. i know that sounds horrible but we have to do what we have to do right.that sounds cruel but i know my moms bf will not let me keep 20-30 or 40-50!!! not in a million years!!but anyway they can survive on REALLY REALLY crushed flakes that i feed the parents right?

yeah...thats what i feed my baby....everyother day i crush up a freeze dried blood worm and put it in there but i did nt start that till he ws about 2 weeks old

yea thats what i have my moms bf feeds bloodworms as a snack every other day but im not gonna leave the baby in the same tank as the adults thats bad!when do they give birth in the morning or night?

i dont know when my mollie dropped her fry...i just went to do my nightly feeding and there he was hanging out by the filter.....from what ive read in other posts they can give birth at anytime. it seems to me that they usually do it when they arent being disturbed

oh last time she gave birth in the morning while i was at school and none survived.then ive been reading that they can give birth in the early morning or night time.im really confused about this i really really wanna save fry i mean REALLY

im tellin ya man get a breeders net and just keep her in that untill she drops the fry....check out this website it has all different sorts of breeding aquariums Fish Breeders and Fish Hatcheries. if you want to ensure you save the fry your best bet is to heavily plant your tank with good plants for the babies to hide incase she does drop while youre not there then you can try to catch the fry and move them to the breeders net or other tank

UGH I WISH IT WAS MY TANK!!!! but i have to convince my moms bf that its important to save. he thinks the fry are good feedings for the other fish.but i am gonna convince him otherwise.hes stubborn let me tell yea but ill convince him.

Picture 140.jpg (116.0 KB) heres a pic of my tank with the breeders net.....i didnt realize it wasnt your tank....thats a difficult situation. im sorry to hear that he is such a bone head about this. i mean, the only thing you can do is talk to him and see if he will let yuou save aleast a few of the fry
