Platy Questions

I have two red platies I just recently bought, and I think one of them may be pregnant (or just fat).

How can you tell apart Male and female platies? In my tank, one has an almost all black tail, and one has a tail that has 75% white or clear, the rest being black. The fins are also slighty different too. Also, the one with the white tail seems to bully the black-tailed one.

Also, how long do platies carry babies, and how many can they give birth to at one time?

I do have a picture of the "fat" Platy if anyone would like to see.

The male will have a modified fin on his underside. The males are, generally, a little smaller in size.

My Platy w/ the white tail is bigger than the black tail one, and looks like it has 3 fins on his underside (these are longer than the other one's as well).

The black tail (fat one) is the smaller of the 2, and has 2 fins on her underside. This one hides a lot as well.

Any signs?

Here is a male. He is a Swordtail but very similar to a Platy. Notice the fins on his underside.

I can see the males and female difference now, but I just would like to know what you guys can see from my pics.

it's really hard to tell from your pics but to me they look both female. The first one has the fins folded in in the picture so I can't tell and the second is pretty dark so it's hard to tell.

The fish in the first pic has smaller fins on its underside if you would like to know.

The other fish is hard to get a picture of, so thats is like the best I can do.

Either one look pregnant at all?

Fish have been following the fish in the first pic around a little more than they used to.
