Question Platy picking on Mystery Snail

I recently added a Mickey Mouse Platy to my aquarium. She's a cool little fish and I really like her, but I've noticed that she sometimes picks at my Golden Mystery Snail. When he is crawling, she nips at his feelers or at the side of his body. When he is sleeping she picks at his shell, looking for algae I assume. I've noticed the snail becoming more and more reclusive. He floats inside of his shell most of the day, where I used to see him cruising around the tank a lot more before the platy arrived. I am mostly worried that he is not having much of a chance to eat anymore. Is it possible that the snail iis able to come out at night while the platy is asleep? If so, maybe I should place some veggies in the tank at bedtime. I just wonder if anyone else has had this problem.

How big is the tank? When that happens, the only way to avoid stress that could kill your snail is separate it.

Thank you for the reply Lupin. The tank is 14 gallons, so not huge. What kind of set up would I need if I were to separate the snail? I'd be willing to give him his own space if it didn't have to be very elaborate. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

A heavily planted tub/tank and sponge filter are all it needs if it's the only occupant or a couple of them (another snail). You can use a rubbermaid tub or basin if you like. Place a mesh on top. If this is a female, she might pop out and drop herself to the floor if she starts looking for some place to lay eggs. Easy.

This sounds doable. Is it okay to keep snails without a heater?

If the temperature doesn't fall below 70 degrees Fahrenheit, yes.
