Exclamation Platy dying PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok my platy is laying at the bottom of the tank relatively still and is breathing really heavily and fast. She is a female dwarf platy and is in a divided, filtered, and heated 20 gallon tank with other platys, guppies, and2 siamese fighting fish. I just did tank matinence (moving stuff around cleaning it ect.). PLEASE HELP ME SAVE HER LIFE!

She might just be overly stress right now because of the moving, I have a few fish that freak out when I start moving stuff in my tank, or during the move she might have gotten injured when you didn't see. Other then that I'm not to sure let someone else comment further, the best way to treat stress if that is in fact the diagnosis is to keep the tank dark for a while, so she can relax and destress.

do you have substrate?? by moving stuff around in the tank your disturbing the substrate as well. it may have released dirt and ammonia in the water.check water params for ammonia. if they are there add zeolites to remove it.some water conditioners will also remove ammonia.read the label if yours does.

Was there an ammonia spike? You didn't say if your tank is cycled or not. Hopefully your water is hard and your PH is close to the 7.4 - 7.8 range. I've also noticed platies don't do well if there's a big temperature fluctuation. I lost one of mine during a recent heatwave because she was already stressed from ammonia exposure and low PH and I couldn't keep the temperature stable. I hope your situation isn't that serious and some rest will help her bounce back.

My tank is cycled and i have substrate. There is a heater that keeps it at exacty 80 degrees 24/7 and i have not checked the parameters for a while but i will do so as soon as i can. Right now i have her in some salt water to help her heal and hopefully she will be better tomorrow.

0.0 wat??? have her in salt water?? add some zeolite and carbon to the filter and let the filter run as normal.it will help remove amonia and other harmful things in the water while your waiting to test the water.

What salinity is the water? What salt did you use?

If she is really stressed, she will jump out of the water if it is not covered! You should listen to advice before you go and make the problem even worse.

I'm sorry about your platy. Sometimes we just don't know what to do because there is nothing obvious to treat.

RIP fishy.
