My platy had babies! I caught as many as I could see and have them hung in a net in the same tank.. (29 gallon)..that way they don't get eaten...What can I feed them though?
For the fry you can either grind up regular fish food so that it is real fine, or you can buy powdered food that is available to feed fry. If you grind up regular fish food make sure that you get it small enough so that the fry is able to eat it.
I have some platy fry too - aren't they adorable? I've been feeding mine Hikari first bites that I got at Petco. It looks like powder but it's tiny granules that sink slowly.
So far, so good. The fry seem to love them. Good luck with your new fishies.
Both suggestions (Hikari First Bites and crushed flake food) are good along with baby brine shrimp. As with adult fish, it's always good to alternate foods for more balanced nutrition.
Years ago, I hatched brine shrimp. Lately, I just buy frozen baby brine shrimp
This is good to know! I seen a package the other day that was labeled baby brine shrimp and was curious what it was for..I didn't buy it..I usually buy the normal brine shrimp for my goby.
Hmmmm... how about daphnia? I've got a bunch of it and it's a good size for those small little mouths.
I think I'll give the little cuties some tomorrow since they were already fed today.
