New Fry... not sure what to do...

I got a new tank for chistmas set it up, move my fish to it then discovered 14 live baby Wag Platy, I don't have the space to house 14 fish... can I leave them in the 5 Gallon tank? how can i care for them? food? It was an unplanned and unexpected surprise.

I never raised baby fish before...

One of the best foods are Hikari First Bites, they need to be housed away from any adult fish if you want them to make it. For now you can mix up adult flake food with water and use a straw or syringe to inject it under the water, I used a meat injector syringe for my Molly babies. They should be okay in the 5 gallon just be sure to do water changes.I would start trying to find homes for them ASAP because they won't fit in there for long:)

They will be perfectly okay in the 5 gallon tank, provided they are the only inhabitants. There is no need to go to any trouble to feed them, normal good quality flake food finely crushed between your fingers about twice a day (morning and night). Just remember not to give them too much food when you feed them, your 5 gallon tank will quickly become very polluted with rotting uneaten flakes, so make sure to do regular partial water changes (say, once a week), a partial water change is about a 1/4 of the water, definitely no more.
Follow these simple steps and they will be good for a few weeks and in the meantime you may be able to check out some friends who may want them. By all means take them to the pet shop if you are game, but I can almost guarantee they will use them as live food for their own fish. Unwanted fry of all types are known as "feeder fish".
Good luck, if you have any more questions, fire away, and let us know what happens.
