Question Need lots of help with my balloon belly mollies!!!

Ok I have 2 tanks. I have a 56 gallon tank that is the families and a 10 gallon tank which is mine personally. In the 56 gallon tank we had multiple fish but we did have 2 balloon belly mollies. We noticed one was getting very fat or Murphy was her name at the time. On July 15th of 2009 she had 21 babies but in a separate tank because we supposed she was prego. So of course we changed her name to Murphet. So currently we have 12 of the babies. In my 10 gallon tank I have 6 babies. There is 1 boy and 5 girls. I have a couple questions. Well the male has been chasing the females around lately why? Then also what is he doing when he flares his fins up big. Then when will I know that one of my females is pregnant? Or will I see them mating or how young can they be to have babies? Please help because I just want my fishys to be happy and healthy!

the male chases the females because he wants to mate....(there fish he dosnt know there his sisters) and the flaring of his fins, is how the males display them selfes to the will thell there prego coz they will get fatter ...and im not sure at what age a female B. molly can breed at...but if your male is flaring his fins/displaying then he is ready to mate ....hope this helps :):):)

I've had several 'batches' of mollies, and the males seem to be able to breed in under 3 months (that's when they start attempting to breed anyway)

I've never had a female less than 6 months become pregnant.
