My platy just had her first litter the other day it looks like she isn't done like she might have some more fry. Is it true that they can have more than one litter from the pregnancy?? How many days apart?? She still looks big...the most exciting thing is watching the fry being born truly wonderful experience up until mama fish eats them ..anyone's help would be great I am new to this platy thing..thanks
I bought some mollies and platys in November, and the females seem like they are perpetually pregnant! Some times they will have fry for a few days, other times they have four or five and stop. If you don't want the fry to get eaten, buy some foliage for them to hide in, either real or plastic. The more the better. The adults will get some of them, but not all.
That does help thanks..now the other question I have is I bought 3 new platys and one of them is really shy and stays in the back of the tank. Is that normal?? I am not really sure if she if preggers she won't let me see her
The platties I have are more shy than the mollies. I also think they don't like the bright light.
