has she always been that large or is it recent?? My guess would be that she is pregnant and if so, it could be any day now. How long have you had her??

Yes, it has been a while that she has been fat. I have had her for a few months now.

they are usually pregnant, i THINK, for 28 days. My molly would drop fry about once a month until my male passed away

My 2 female bubblebee platies are huge also but I have had them for over 5 months with 1 male platy and nothing yet. I read a book on platies and sometimes it takes 9 months to mature. Some will reabsorb the babies. They can hold the sperm for several months sometimes and will have them when the condition is right according to my book. They can also have babies for 6 months even though you have no males in the tank. I bought mine at Petco and they were in a mixed tank with female/males together Chances are she is pregnate if she came from a mixed tank.. I'm still hoping for my 2 females to drop fry. My male bubblebee is not chasing my females or anything as of yet . I also heard that some platies take longer to mature then others.

You can tell when they are really to drop when they stop eating prior to dropping a few days, hanging out by the heater, some pace up and down, wants to hide in a corner of the tank away from other fish.Do not remove her and put her in a breeder box as that will stress her out. Just put plenty of plants for the babies to hide in at all levels.

When the babies are born you can then remove them and raise them in a breeder net with plants floating til they are bigger then the biggest fishes mouth so they won't get eaten. When the babies come feed them crushed flake food that is in the form of fine powder twice a day.
