Is my platy pregant please I need help

I own a 56 gallon tank. In it we have 2 platies. We are postive one is a boy and one is a girl. The girl one is kind of getting fat. Just the 2 platies go into our little cave thing where we cant see them cause it is dark in the 'cave'. So recently we have seen the girl platy looks like she is getting fatter. I dont know anything about breeding platies! Is she pregant? Do they have live babies? Should i put the girl in our breeders tank? Please help me!!!!

Platies give live birth - no eggs. I'd say leave em in your tank (unless you have other fish in there, or want to be able to separate the young for easier feeding and care) and most the fry should be fine.

Be sure your filter intake is properly covered to prevent them from getting sucked in.

In a 55 gallon that stock is kind of low. The odds are quite a few baby platy will survive in there since there isn't many finish to run from giving them lots of places to hide...

As said platies are livebearers and give birth to live fish.

It's hard to determine, imo, unless you can see the eyes in her belly, when she is going to give birth. I have trouble telling on my platies. But most likely a lot of your baby fish will survive after being born and you'll find many to catch and put into a breeder box. If this is her first time giving birth you might not see many babies.

Good luck! :)

Sorry for late reply, but on fish's FIRST birth (if you're sure they haven't given birth before you got them), the fry number is pretty small. Not too sure on the defects. But don't expect a ton of fry.
