Question Is this mollie pregnant? What should i do?

CAn you tell me if this mollie is pregnant. There is a black mollie (mlae) i the tank and that orange mollie(female). PLease tell me if she is pregnant and if so how far along is she. Also, is it a good idea to use a breeders net? I wanna keep the babies and my tank doesnt have very many plants yet..thanks!

she looks maybe a week preggo, you could use a breeders net but it might stress her out. your best bet is probably to give the fry lots of hiding spots or maybe even put them in their own tank if you have one available.. if you decide to do that fill the fry tank with tank water from the original tank.

She will likely get bigger first. She will almost look square in the front. And will have a dark spot or gravid spot at the back of her tummy, said to be the babies eyes showing thru as she gets really close. I think the whole process takes at least 35 days between batches. If she has one batch she will have another. each batch you will learn something from. A seperate tank is better than the breeder net I agree. Or make a divider in your tank with a piece of plastic craft grid. I made one for my 75 gal using 2 big sheets, sewn together with fishing line and supported down the sides with those sliding 1/2 inch report cover bindings. there is a "how to" posting somewhere in TFK. Put mom on the small side and after the babies are born, usually early morning and you'll find them at the surface, take Mom out and put her back into the bigger side of the tank. 15 gallon is big enough to spit off 5 gallons and then make it smaller after you move mom out. Say down to 3 gallons, carefull not to let any little ones out. Good luck.
