I have three mickey mouse platys in my fish tank. They're the blue variety, but have orange fins. They are active fish and I usually find two of them "playing tag", alternating chasing one another about the tank. The third is usually cruising through the decorations at the bottom of my tank. The ones chasing each other varies, no one platy seems to be harassing the other two, they take turns chasing one another. Whenever I'm close to the tank to observe it the three stooges all come charging up and look at me expectantly. When I do feed them they've started to nip at my fingers while I hold the flake food under to wet it, letting the food sink lets my little boy watch them a little better. All three platys are male, I made sure of that.
Unlike most of the fish I have, have had, or plan to have I've taken some time to research them. These guys were a spur of the moment purchase because my wife liked them and I was eager to get something in my tank that would interest her.
My questions are simple:
1) Is this typical platy behavior?
2) What sort of frozen foods would they enjoy?
3) Would they be better off if I got a few more of them? Male, I have no desire to become the proud papa of a few hundred MMP's.
