Wow the blue and yellow merah was pretty cool but yeah, they do throw the effect that their tail's been caught in a filter intake. espescially how chunks are gone right down to the caudal peduncle. A bit disconcerting, really.
They are neat. I really so no issue since like you said not really any different then a crowntail. I find it very interesting that the gene for the Merah tail is dominate over the gene for a normal tail. Usually traits like this are recessive.
But at least ct bettas have some webbing on their tails. I think what disturbs me is that there is none on some of the guppies. That tail would be completely useless to the fish!
I don't know, interesting idea but a little scary-looking to me. I do understand why some think it's cool though, not trying to dis anyone's gups
I agree the dominance of the gene is weird. I think they need some more selective breeding to make it look less like an accident
