Look at my pregnant platy please

Hello everyone, I am new here and had a question maybe one of you experts can help me with. I have a Platy fish who I know is pregnant. Can anyone tell me their estimate of when my fish will give birth? Shes the orange not the red one, thats her boyfriend. I dont want to leave her in the breeding tank to long. But I know thats where she needs to go beacuse I have Mollys, Tetra's and ghost shrimp and I want as many as possible to survive. Thank You, in advance.

I don't know if you have read other posts about pregnate livebearers but the breeder boxes stress the fish out. I have alot of plants in the tank at all levels. You can make hiding places for the fry by stacking rocks for caves. If you have another tank to put the boyfriend in that would be great. The less stress the better. You can tell about when she might have them when she squares off in back. She will be really big. maybe not want to eat any food for a few days is a sign that she will deliver soon, back and fourth pacing up and down, staying by the heater area. I keep an eye out for babies. Once they have them they will be thinner. If you don't want the fry in the main tank I take the adult fish out and catch all the babies and put them in a smaller tank 2.5 gal-3 gal. tank is fine. with heater, filter with a netting so the fry do not get sucked up. I keep them in that tank til they are big enough to not get eatten or fit in the biggest fishes mouth. You have a nice collection of livebearers. Your tank will be overrun with to many babies if you try to save all of them. If you have a nice planted tank with live or plastic plants floating and on the bottom some of the fish will be fine. You can't save every one. The strong and the healthy ones will survive. If you want to save them you must have other cycled tanks set up for the babies. Good luck!

if it is only them in the tank you can put the male in the breeder box so he will stop pestering her.
you may need to find something else to protect the babies

i have two females same as yours,they can get really fat b4 they drop it all depends on the fish but when you see her belly squaring off thats when she is getting close,a white tube becomes visible between their bottem fins,also if you look close you will be able to see the eyes of the babys at the back of her belly,thats another good sighn.
i can tell on mine the day b4 they birth and just stick them in a Guppy trap over night which they dont seem to mind but if im not sure then i use the clear bags that you get them in from the pet shop and suspend them in the tank,they still feel part of the tank that way but the babies are safer,the mum may eat one or two but if you feed her b4 you go to bed she shouldnt eat more than that :)
