This is really weird. I cannot explain it.
In my 10 gallon aquarium, I have two small loaches, and two mollies -- one balloon (Chubby), one marble.(Slim)
It can't be a loach because it doesn't have the unique body shape.
But mollies have rather "ordinary" shapes. However, the two mollies have been in the tank since day one. They were the initiators of the water cycling. To be fair, people always assume the balloon to be pregnant. But I don't believe it because for one, they're bloated and called balloon mollies for a reason.
For two, Chubby has always looked the same. Never bigger, never smaller.
Video, here is what they look like
Then this morning... I found this little dude swimming around in the water.
What the heck?
Click to view. These are as good as I can get.
Video: If it helps, here's the fry some more.
I did see Slim going after it once. So evidently there is at least one fish in there that would eat it. And I assume the loaches would also, without hesitation.
If there were ever others, they have probably since been devoured. But I sit and watch my fish a lot. It's almost better than TV. I've never seen anything else like this.
I'm also pondering what to do with it. In my 20 gallon I only have the 3 platies, but the water it not totally cycled yet. Its very close though. 0 ammonia, 40ish nitrates, but about 1-1.5 nitrites.
But in there, I have live plants including a large clump of java moss where it could hang out and be safe. As far as being eaten, meh.. I don't care. I only want it to survive to help solve this mystery of where it came from.
