I have an unknown bulb in my 35 gal tank. i got this bulb and 5 others from the lfs, it has formed this caoting on the right side of the bulb and i have no idea what it is. It kind of looks like the caoting that frogs make right before they lay eggs. I have two mature plecos and I dont know how to sex them. Is it mold? Do plecos lay eggs/could they be trying to lay eggs on the bulb if they do?

Doesn't sound like Plecos breeding, according to this web page:

Breeding Pleco (Hypostomus plecostomus) | Aquariums Life

Sounds like fungus to me. Can you post a photo?
