Killies Anyone?

Since there is no killie area, I thought I'd drop this in livebearers as the closest match. (Livebearing toothcarp versus egg-laying toothcarp).

is anyone else here keeping killies? If so, what have you got?

I'm keeping Jordanella floridae, Pachypanchax playfairii, Aphysemion striatum, and Fundulopanchax gresensi.

I've had flag fish before and they did decently well in my 90 gal, I tend to stay away from the smaller killi because of their short lifespan in the wild - Its all well and good to pay 5$ for a fish but when its max lifespan is 12 months it feels like a waste

If they do live longer in captivity I'd be interested in some commonly sold ones for a flash of color in my tanks

That would make sense. Haven't you heard? We make yogurt, not sense.

There's plenty of killies that live for around the same as livebearers. Aphyosemion and fundulopanchax to name two genera. It's the Nothobranchus that are annuals, but the key here is breeding.
