Update, my babies are about 1 month or so now. They are starting to show a little color, swimming out and about a lot. They are the cutest!!!

I love it when my fish drop fry. My big female molly is in the process this evening. So far I have spotted about 20 fry in her tank. I put her into the 55 gallon tank 2 weeks ago so that she could deliver fry away from the 4 inch angels and other occupants of my big community tank. Last night I thought I had spotted a fry around lights out but this evening she is definitely well into delivering the rest. I spotted abut 5 when I went out to supper this evening and came home to about 15 visible. That was an hour ago and now I see around 20. At this rate she should be done with 30 or 40 by morning. Her usual drop is in that range although she is well along in age and may be slowing down some. She no longer is in vibrant good health like she was a couple of years ago.

In a 55 gallon, I raise them to a good size and sell them at club auctions. It helps me pay for fish food. I last sold a group of 6 1 inch long ones for $8. I will be returning to that club to auction some more in October. I am also signed up to supply about 15 or 20 to a local nursing home where my club is setting up a display tank for the resdidents to watch. The place is just too darned sterile looking and has no life to it. A tank full that looks like this will help spruce things up a bit.

The picture was 2 months ago when they were only about 1 1/2 inches long.

That is awesome! I only had 5 fry that survived and I thought that was a lot. Not sure how many she had and the mother died the next day. I had no idea she was ready to deliver. Hopefully I will get to see the next time.

This fish thing started out as an innocent hobby, now it has turned into something else. I am trying to figure out where I can put another tank!!!!!!!

Tanks can go almost anywhere as my house will show. I have a total of about 20 up and running right now, I quit counting so I don't know the real number but I can list them individually by just thinking about the fish in each one. The most recent set up is the one where I had my over-mature female drop fry a few days ago.

We have close to the same number of tanks up and running right now too. We're growing out about 20-something fry of both red swordtails and albino blues. Expecting more to drop soon we set up yet another 20 gal in anticipation. We also plan soon to prep the 90 gal for the angels once they pair off (young-uns yet). Fun, fun, fun!

After posting my last message about waiting for the red swords to drop more fry I got home from work to find at least 5 new babies. That was at a glance, i'm on crutches right now and not "allowed" to navigate the stairs to our fish room LOL, but I'm stubborn and had to do the feedings.

Fishin Pole went down later and said he counted 6 so far. Now just watching and waiting for more reds and the albino blues to start dropping. Time to pull the eldest of the first batch from nursery tank and move to the grow out tanks to make room for the newbies!
