Hungry Female Guppies

I put 5 female guppies into my aquarium today and they have done nothing but eat my live plants, I dont want to lose the plants as I hvae only put them in this week, at the moment I have some cucumber in the tank but they are still going mad on the plants any suggestions how to stop them from doing this?
