i'm new to this. i was wondering how to tell if my molly, and platties are male or female?...
The main difference with all livebearers is that the female has a normal looking fan shaped anal fin, while the males anal fin has turned into a gonopodium (sex organ) and is more spiked shape....pics showing difference taken from Tropical Fish - Breeding Guppies mollies and other livebearers

The females are almost always bigger in the belly area as they are almost constantly pregnant!!!! When the belly squares off \___/ like this then they should be popping out babies quite soon... Good luck with your new fishies!
