Oh ok, that does make sense. So, I bought a fish breeder plastic thing. It floats on top of the water. The only thing I am afraid of it stressing out the female fish when it's time to put her in there. Also, I don't really know when to put her in there. What is your opinion on a breeder box?

It looks like I have one female and two males. Should I give away the female and just get another male, because my tank is only a 16 gallon tank and I really, really don't want over population.

I am one of those people that really don't like to use a breeder. I actually have two of them but have not used one in years. I put a heavy female into a birth tank alone and make sure that there is lots of dense cover from java moss when I want to save fry. Otherwise, I would rather leave the female right in the tank if I don't want to save fry. With all of the hungry mouths and not much cover, I rarely see any fry in my community tank.

So, if I just want to save this last fry that I have put in the breeder, do you think the fry will live in it okay?

Fry that can be confined to a breeder will live just fine. They usually will not grow very fast because they have no swimming room to exercise in.
