It's just a matter of time. Things to watch for prior to birth. Not eating may look like she is eating but spits out the food. This is maybe a few days before birth. Other things to look for pacing up and down, hanging out by self or by a heater. She will square off in the back end where her gravid spot is. Make sure you provide alot of cover for the baby fish in plants that are at all levels if you want to keep the babies with the adult platys. Some fry may be eaten. Feed the babies crushed flake food. I keep some in a small container with a toothpick and dip that in the water then in the food then back in the water. If you have males in the tank it might be best to seperate her so she does not get bothered by the males. I take all the males out and just have the females together and if I want to save the babies I get them out and put them in a breeder net or other 2 gal. tank for them to grow up in. Also cover your intake vavle with panty hose or a netting to prevent the baby fry from getting sucked up in the filter.

I have her in a tank by herself, we took water out of the community tank she was in and added it to the new tank hope that wasnt a bad thing to do lol. I have her in a breeding container but I felt mean keeping her in that tiny thing. Shes not eating and hangs out at the bottom of the tank hiding most of the time.

Yeah she looks like she is getting VERY close. I give it a week max. I never have really noticed the signs indicating she will give birth soon, besides physical appearance. And judging by that, expect fry soon. Good Luck!

Thanks, should I remove her from the tank after giving birth, and leave the fry in the tank alone?

You could do what you said earlier and remove her from the tank, and just rear the fry up in the tank that they are in. Has she finished dropping all of them yet?
