The only thing I ever had jump out of my tank was a bamboo shrimp, still not sure how she did it since I had everything but the filter out-flow blocked(she musta gotten up there, but I do not know how!)...and one uh, I believe it was a swordtail jumped out when a male was trying to breed with her. Other than the odd snail or shrimp, that was the only fish. I often stare slack-jawed at people who say ALL of their fish jumped out of their tank(like a guy at the petshop asking about fish who don't jump because his six swordtails did....I asked about his set up, he said he had four males and two females in a ten gallon tank with a five gallon filter, I told him that was the issue...all of it). LOL Just never had issues with it...oh, well, when I was little(like five) I had a crayfish that got out of a tank I set up. o-o No lid...he wandered around the house for a week until my dog...was found by it. LOL Does that count?
You just gotta watch out for those jumpers or ones that are commonly known to do it, better safe than sorry, but a proper lid usually keeps that from happening.
