Have a question about unknown Platy illness

Hello,

Pardon me for being like everyone else but I have never experienced any disease in my tank before.

But this is my description. I put a male Platy in about 3 months ago and about 3 weeks ago i noticed a lighter patch on the side of him. it wasn't like that before, but he acted normal so i left him. today i noticed some lumps on his tail, unlike my other platies in the tank. I am sure this isnt normal now, so what do these symptoms describe?

i am going to the fish shop on friday and plan on testing my water. should i look for medicine there too? should i take him out before i infect other fish?

i also don't own a quarantine tank so i cant move him. : (

any ideas?
