Hey, I have 6 beautiful guppies (3 males, 3 females - I know that is not a good balance but I had a couple of deaths when I was starting out and don't currently have room for any more).
I was just wondering if anyone knows more about the mating process. I know female livebearers can store sperm for months, but if she mates with another male will this 'replace' the original sperm she was storing? And does this only happen when she is in certain stages of pregnancy?
I would really like to learn all the ins and outs (pardon the pun!) of livebearer mating but can't find any detailed information on the internet or in the books I have.
I currently have around 90 guppy fry of various ages, including some my friend gave me as he doesn't have room in his tank. The oldest are around ten weeks and are just starting to get colour on their tails (all yellow).
