Guppy raped, normal for once in a bluemoon death?

Hmmm i just saw one of my plecos having a go at something i thought its a snail. got a closer look and boy was i wrong. it was my pregnant guppy with half its guts ripped out and floating still attached to it..... and my playful pleco sucking away at it eating it. i shoo'd the pleco away and immediately removed the pregnant corpse. but im just curious to why it died.... no way the plec could have killed it and it was swimming around all happy an hour before.... i just dont want the rest to die the plague or something.

Algea eaters are a bit different then plecos.
Algea eaters turn into meat eaters, and really should be watched, though plecos stay herbavors.

There are hundreds of species of plecos. Not all plecos are herbivores. Some are carnivores. Some prefer wood than anything else particularly the panaques.

And all Plecos are catfish, which means they will attack and feed on weak/dying fish. It is just in their nature.
