Hi, I Have A pair of Tiger Show Guppies and the female is pregnant.
Im not sure how far along she is but I know shes not ready to drop quite yet.
We havent manager to set up our breeding tank yet and wont manage to get it ready, through the cycle in time for the births so we've got her in a large breeding net in the main tank. She seems to have some sort of seperation anxiety because she gets all flustered when shes not near the male. The male sits at the top next to the net but she stresses herself too much so i put the male in with her untill shes about to drop, was that a good idea or should they be seperate?

there should be a "gravid spot" by the females anal fin as well as the fish itself will be nice and plump when its ready to "drop"
i think you should leave the male in the main tank because they tend to actually stress out the female by constant nagging.. i have my males and females seperated in completly different tanks and they dont say a word about missing their spouse, trust me. lol
as for your question, i personally would keep the male out of the breeding net, watch daily to see if the female gave birth and when she does, scoop out the female. dont be suprised if her first "batch" is tiny

hi
your little tank you are waiting to cycle, have you not taken some
media from your cycled tank filter and used that in the new one ?
you could then add a platy to keep the filter going.

my breeding tank is being custom made and is not here yet, thats why i cant take already cycled media and put it in.!!
I seperated them last night as her gravid spot has darkened quite a lot, he still sits up next to her net.. its really quite cute..!! :p
shes tiny herself so im expecting her batch to be absolutely tiny..!
