I bought a floating plastic breeding container. I put one of the small ones with a nipped fin in it, and my water changes now contain the recommended amount of Melafix.

1. Is this a good idea?
2. How long will it take to repair?

that breeding container isnt a good idea as it stresses the fish. Heavily plant your tank with either live or fake plants to create hiding spots for the wounded fish to hide from the more agressive ones. This also works for raising fry

Oh, I took a bunch of scenery out because there wasn't much room to swim. I'll put it back!

4. Hmm, I did that, big mistake- got some prego females, : The store may want for you to overstock then they all die and you will need to go and buy supplies and more fish to keep them alive. Thats all I can really think of unless they want you to sell the babies back to them.

I have fancy guppies and love them! Some suggestions? Put just a little bit of aquarium salt in the water. 1 tablespoon. Guppies like just a little salt and it will also boost their immune system to repair the fins. Males tend to be more aggressive if they're only with males. See if you can take a few males back to the store for some females. You can tell the difference since females are bigger and less colorful. They're not as pretty but it will bring some peace to your tank. I don't think my males even know that there's other guppies in my tank since they're too busy chasing the females!
