So yesterday morning i woke up and saw i had a baby guppy! and it still had that yellow thing on it so i knew it was just born! so i scoped it out and put it in a 5 gallon. then put the prego Guppy in the same tank. the guppy had like 10 babies. but i had to go to a party and i was gone all day yesterday and all night and just got back. I gues the guppy got hungry cause i see only 3 survivors in the tank LOL. Just wanted to tell you guys my funny adventure!

Next time you separate her, try lots of plants or other small cover in the birthing tank. Keep your female well fed during and after the birth so she doesn't "get hungry". That way you will have tons of fry survive. It is how I bred this molly 10 days before the picture was taken. She is still with them 9 days after the picture and I don't think she has eaten any in those 9 days. There are still at least 30 in the tank with her.

This was taken the day she gave birth.

If you are happy with your survival rate, everything is fine. I only separate my female to her own tank when I want fry. Otherwise they almost always are all eaten by all the fish in her usual community tank. I have exactly one survivor in that tank in the last 6 months.
