Hey I got two Gold Panda Mollies and cant seem to find much about them in the internet only a cupple of things. I have had there for a bout a month and a half and the seem to be realy hardy fish. Just charing to see if someone is interested. I think they are short fin mollies but I am not sure if I am then please correct me and if you know how long it takes for them to be pregnant post please, mine has been pregnant sice i broght them home the have been getting it on.
SORRY ABOUT THE CRAPPY PICS WILL TRY TO GET BETTER ONES
There's no strict time frame for the females getting pregnant. I'd say it depends on the skill and persistence of the male, and the cooperation and willingness of the female, if I had to put it in human terms. Taking regular photos to compare is a good way of checking the condition of the female; when her gravid (dark) spot starts getting larger, and her belly gets bigger, it indicates pregnancy.
The reason why you won't find any information on these mollies is because whoever sold them to you labeled them wrong. I've had a number of these mollies in the past, and were always sold to me as "Gold Dust" Mollies, or simply Gold Mollies, or even Marbled in some places.. I've never even heard of a "gold panda" molly nor could imagine what is "panda" about it other than it's black pattern. They're exactly the same as any other type of molly, as far as water parameters, diet, temperance, etc. The only exception with it being, this fish is sometimes sold as a 'novelty fish' or 'designer fish' like cremesicle mollies, but they are no different in species. A molly is a molly, and is usually always pregnant when you buy them.
Thanks, I bought them at petco and the other day I went back to get a filter was looking around and saw them again still labled gold panda and they seem, (to me), uglier than the ones I got. What e mean is that the ones at petco seem to be brighter yellow and have shorter tailfins, the skirt part seems smaller than there front of their bodies, but mine seem "Normaler", i guess just because i had mine for so long.
Yeah, ive gotten a few "weird" mollies in my day. i hate a male gold dust (the one you have) but he wasnt short fin or long fin, or sail fin, his top fin stuck almost straight up, like a high fin and i dont see too many hi fin mollies
