Question Fishfood you can find in the garden

Hey guys, seeing as how spring is fast approaching i was wondering what kind of insects we could feed our live bearers during the warmer months. Our gardens will be full of bugs so does anyone suggest any specific ones to feed swords/platies/mollies?

don't feed insects from outside in your yard because of the risk of fertilizer contamination. Just stick to the flake food bud.

I vermipost earthworms (worms I keep in a bin that eat my leftover food scraps and turn it into castings that are great for my garden). 1077 told me that fish love earthworms and that they are good for fish. They were too large for my fish so I had to chop them up.
I nearly Gross, never again. Too bad as they are organic and pesticide free.
If you don't use pesticides or fertilizers you can always root around the dirt in your yard and find some.
Good luck chopping them up.

My fish go wild for chopped earthworms. Its best to try and get some of the soil out first, which is a pretty unpleasant task, and chop them really fine.

I've also fed, gnats/flys, that i catch in the air with a fine net when they're swarming together - my hatchet fish like these. They also eat small non-biting ants and little moths that i find in the house sometimes

ok thanks, ill try the little flies since i dont have to cut them up and the chances of them having been exposed to pesticides is les than the other bugs i found on the bushes and trees.
