This is Marty my new mickey mouse platy. He was the smallest in the pet store tank and I felt bad cuz I saw he has red gills ( from ammonia I'm guessing ). Figured I'd bring him home to a clean tank so he might get better!
Nice picture of the little guy. He's so lucky to be adopted by you. He was maybe picked on at the shop that you bought him from since he is the smallest. Now he gets a lovely tank to grow up in and cared for.
Aww thanks. I don't know why but I'm noticing that I've been picking the smallest baby fish I find. The guppies I got were some of the smaller ones as well. I guess someone has to love the runts.
well it turns out that my female red calico Layla has become Larry. Yesterday while watching the tank he stuck his gonopodium out and chased Marty off. I don't know how I missed it the day I bought him/her. And no females in at LFS till wednesday. Anyone else ever have this issue? lol
haha its annoying and funny, but watching the 2 males play the " whos got the bigger thing " game is hilarious. Marty may be small but he's showing whos boss. I love the dalmation mollies, would they interbreed with platys?
Good thing my guppies are in their own 20 gallon ! I've got 2 males and 4 female platys in my 25 gallon and its like hormone central now!! Except Lola my mickey mouse nips at the male mickey mouse when he comes close but struts her stuff infront of the male red calico... very strange. My poor blue platys are getting no attention.
when i first got platys i bought 3 and i bought the 3 smallest in the tank and i wish i didnt really because they never grew, even my male guppies are bigger
