These are really cool fish and I think I want some... Will I be ok just to classify them as a guppy and treat them like one? I have a few questions though, approximately what is the full grown size? And I've seen extremely colourful and pretty males and very ugly females... Is there such thing as pretty females or are the colours strictly for the males? Do they enjoy groups or would 1 male and 2-3 females do ok? Thanks :D

My endlers are one of my favorites. The males get to about 1 inch, 2.5 cm, long and can be very colorful. The females are quite plain and are slightly longer when full grown. Both fish are very quick compared to any guppy and it can be amazing how hard they are to catch. They like the water a little warmer than guppies but can live with the same care and at the same temperature.
If you give them a place for the fry to hide, you will end up with a lot of baby endlers. At low temperatures of around 70 F there will be more male babies and around 80 F there will be more females. The lower temperatures also will mean that you get fry less often so it will slow down how fast they fill your tank.
They should not be kept with guppies because they are too close a relative.

Thanks, thats really helpful. No worries I have no guppies. I was thinking about it but then I found the endlers. Thats very interesting about the temperature, but I won't be adjusting it for breeding. I don't really have a problem if I end up with babys but I'm not going to try and breed them. I've got a ten gallon set up right now with one swordtail fry, so if... When my endlers have fry they can live in there. Thanks again!
