Question Delayed Pregnancy?

I bought a gravid Neon Swordtail from my LFS, found 1 preemie fry a couple days later I figured was due to the stress of being re-homed. That was about 2 weeks ago and her gravid spot is still there and the 1 fry is growing healthy. My question is, is it normal to drop a preemie that early and to still be pregnant this long after? Has she delayed it, or just aborted it altogether?

I've never had swordtails, but with guppies and mollies I've seen this happen... sometimes they'll drop one or three fry every few days for what seems like ages, but I've also seen them have one, wait a bit, then have the rest of their brood. It is very likely that the stress of re-homing and adjusting to a new tank and new water parameters has something to do with this, I've also known live-bearers to be skittish in tanks with other very active fish. Give her time in a dim and stress-free environment, and see what happens - it can be really difficult to say (in my experience) what they're thinking when they do stuff like this! Good luck!
