Do coral platys really stay smaller than other species of platy? I just bought two today and put them with my two sunburst platys in my 28 gallon. If they really stay a bit smaller, I'd like to get some more.

No. They're still the same species, Xiphophorus maculatus. Anyone can claim there is a dwarf platy which seems more like a stunted form to me. Someone claimed before there was a dwarf angelfish. It's only a stunted form. There are only 3 species that exist, nothing else.
