Hey everyone- I currently have 2 community tanks, one has 3 cherry barbs and 2 pearl danios, and the other has 2 adult platys and 3 other platys born 6 months ago, but definately large enough to hold their own. Would anyone see any harm in combining the two tanks into one 20g tank, so long as the water parameters are similar enough? As far as I know, they are all community friendly, but I could be wrong. Id like to take the 40 gal that the platys are in and possibly try my hand at cichlids, who im sure would have a field day with the platys in the tank now. Thanks, Joe

If the barbs and danios are in the 20g currently, they might not take kindly to new "friends". If so, I would recommend you take them all out rearrange the tank, possibly swap some decorations from your other tank and put the platys in first then the barbs and danios back in. Still no guarentee that they would get along but it would increase the chances. Leave the 40 empty for a week just in case.

On a side note, barbs and danios both prefer groups of 6+. Maybe look at rehoming them instead?
