This is only a portion of the fry that have been dropped. Both batches have come from one female who I have been able to seperate from the community, and have been able to save the fry that way. In the community tank I have a total of 6 females who I know have dropped. But between the angels, the corys and the rams they don't have much of a chance in the large tank. I am hoping that these guys will reach saleable size within the next couple of months.

They look so different. Kind of like the Bumblebee Platies that I have. But they are too cute! I can't wait for my fish to have its babies and will post some pictures. I hope they are just as cute as yours :)

Mom was a black red tailed variatus ( found one of my gals dead last night thinking that it was the one who I had gotten the two drops on) The babies are looking like they are mostly the black red tailed variatus, and a few are pineapples. I still have a couple that I am waiting to find out what a few of the others are going to do with their coloring. It has definilty been a lot of fun raising these guys.

New to fry

I was wondering do since I keep all my baby fry (there were only ten) in my 1.5 gallon should I even add rocks? or should I just leave it be for easy cleaning. Suggestions?

Hello and welcome to TFK For a fry tank I would leave the bottom clear, it will make things much easier for cleaning. Adding some floating plants would be good and would be appreciated by the fry. With a fry tank simpler in my opinion is better.

Here are some updated pictures of platys born on 7/22. They are finally starting to get even larger, it seems that once I moved them to the 20 gallon they have been growing like crazy. Probably about another 4 weeks or so before they will be ready to be sold. Sorry about the dirty glass, hadn't cleaned the water spots off before taking the pictures

So my fry are a little over a month old now. I was wondering when would be a good time to put them back in with their mother in the 29 gallon. The only fish in there are three Dalmatian Mollies (1 boy and 2 girls) the mother platy and a pleco.

You can put the fry back in the big tank once they are large enough that they will not fit into the mouth of the biggest fish in the tank.

I have about 12 fry in my 2 gallon tank so that hey are seperated from my 29 gallon. I was wondering if it would be ok to put my very pregnant dalmatian molly in there so that her babies can hopefully survive. Or will she maybe attack the month old fry?
