Yes, Petsmart should know...they normally have them already seperated into different tanks by sexes. The males are much more colorful and have larger finage if you want to compare the female to the male tank, it will be easier for you to tell the difference.

Male Guppies are much more colourful (particularly in the body) than the females but the way to tell for sure is to look at the anal fin, in the females you'll see that the fin is almost round, in the males it develops into a tube (gonopodium) that it uses to deposit sperm. It's quite obvious when you have them side by side.
