2 mysterys..one solved

my 36 gallon tank(look in my signature)has 3 swordtails and 2 snails...we noticed a couple of days ago that a snail was missing but we thot it was just in the rock crevices and plants.so we left it alone..today i noticed one of my female swordtails(who is heavily pregnant) is missing!! i was looking for her behind the tank and i found the one snail that was missing on the floor!!! i was surprised!! i didnt know they could get out of the water.and it was black and moldy and nasty so its gone now.but i still cant find the swordtail..and its big!! about 3 and a half inches!! i looked around the tank and i saw nothing.and i think it might be dead behind this one rock i cant see the back of. nothing was wrong with it and it seemed prefectly fine yesterday.it gave birth the 2nd of february and never since.she is a neon swordtail.
