Ok, advice needed please. recently got givin a fresh water cray, problem is he might be a bit big. In the process of a 49gl set up and will he eat anything i put in there or do i keep him seperate?
He's about 7 inchs long and 4 when standing and lives in a 100mm ag pipe as i cant find anything that big yet.
To me that looks like a Hiaticambarus which will grow pretty large compared to other cray's and yes will eat up your plants. These kinda cray's are something you'd wanna house in a 55g to themselves with caves etc and no live plants, you may have luck with keeping floating plants ~ maybe~ but that's about it. From the looks what you said about its current size the tank he/ she is in is way too small to stay in there.
Thanx Angel079, its just a holding tank for the next couple of days till i sort the 49gal out. How large is "pretty large". How would fish go with it as i have a couple of gold fish.
