What type of snail if any?

I really like the mystery snails but my ph is going to remain low, 7.0 at the most but right now it's sitting at 6.0. My gh is high so that won't be a problem. How would snails be in this type of tank?

I'm pretty sure all snails need quite a high ph for good shell health.

Have you tried adding crushed coral to the tank, either in the filter, or as substrate? this is one of the cheapest and easiest methods to raise ph in the tank.

My apistos are going to like the low ph so I'm not trying to raise it too much. At the most I'll bring it up to 7.0 but they won't be happy much higher than that.

Anything below 7 for a pH can quickly lead to pitting, erosion and a lot of problems. The acidic levels will eat away the calcium carbonate. If you want snails, maybe try Ramshorns. The smaller pond rasmhorns can be tought to control but if you can find the Colombian Ramshorns they lay very obvious large clusters that can easily be removed. They also eat calcium rich foods that shouldn't cause you pH to go up. A big piece of Kale or Leaf Lettuce 2-3 times a week and they will be happy.

I don't know why they do better in lower pH except they grow to full size in 1/10 the time. A Colombian Ramshorn will reach the size of a Silver dollar in a matter of 1-2 months where it takes a mystery a lot longer.

If you are into feeding live foods, you could always chop the Colombians up to feed the Apistos if they like meat.
