Vampire Shrimp Behavior

Hi guys, I recently bought myself a vampire shrimp. The problem is, it seems to hide under the pump covering plastic rock 24/7. Before it used to come out during the nights and filter near the waterfall in my tank but I rarely see that now. Does anyone own a vampire shrimp and have similar situations? Is this perfectly normal?

Welcome to the forum.

I don't have a vampire but I have the singapore red... I rarely see them out of the flow. What are you feeding them?

I only have one and I read that if you have one you don't really need to give anything special for it as it can survive off most of the filtering. I usually drop an algae pellet near the rock before I turn off the lights at night. It's for my loaches mainly. Anyways I have a pretty strong current because my tank is one of those half water half land things and I have a waterfall. It appears that theyre nocturnal, is that true? Thanks.

many inverts are nocturnal but no they do require specialized feeding.

Look for powdered foods to add to the tank or you can make your own out of old flake foods.
