Trit0n's 40g Shrimp Nitrate Spike Help

Hey all!

Need some help for the best treatment to deal with uneaten food causing a Nitrate spike. My normal tap is around 5-20ppm (its yellow on the API master kit so a little hard to tell), tank water tested around 80+ppm (red on test kit). Ammonia - 0 Nitrite - 0 pH - Normal.

PS - Just did a 30% WC yesterday so I don't know if I should do another WC today to combat the issue (in my mind that might adjust water chemistry too much too fast and be harmful in another way), I used 2 capfuls of Prime on a 40g so far to take care of some of the Nirates.

PPS - I never have issues with overfeeding, but for some reason they did not want to touch the SCAPE daily food yesterday (they had already been eating other foods that day both before and after WC). I didn't notice them not eating the food since I have never had that issue, if I did i obviously would have removed it. I then went to sleep and woke up to about 20 dead shrimp.

Thanks all!

Just did a 25% WC and added a little more Prime, they are all happy again. I will test nitrates again later today and see whats going on.
