Start of ramshorn snail infestation

Hi,
I am starting to have a bunch of ramshorn snails in my 55 gallon tank. They must have come in with the camboba I planted about a month or so ago. I can see that they've laid eggs on once side of my aquarium...how do I get rid of it?
Also, there are a lot of teeny little ones that I've been killing off from the walls, but there are more all over the floating plants. Some of the leaves are dying, so I guess that's why they're accumulating. If I make sure that I don't overfeed and get rid of the dead / dying leaves, will it help to maintain a steady snail population?
I don't plan on killing them all, just maintain a steady population....I've read that they eat algae as well.

Thanks,
Ami

I used to have honey gouramis. But the snails appeared after the gouramis have died. I am now reading that gouramis eat snails. So I guess I can also get a few gouramis to keep the snail population in check
In some websites, it is mentioned that apple snails also eat ramshorn snails...do they eat live plants (I have a planted tank)? Are there measures to be taken to make sure I don't increase the problem?

Thanks,
Ami

I have never heard about apple snails eating other snails. Only the eggs. Assassin snails will also help cull the population.

What you currently doing is fine. Culling the young ones as you go. These are fairly self limiting. When there is a lack of food they will starve off. That is when you find many if not 100's of empty baby shells littering the bottom of the tank.

Thanks guys. I'm going to clean my 55 gallon tank of dead / dying leaves and kill off all the small snails. Hopefully I can get rid of the eggs too. In case I still can't keep a decent population, I'll probably get an assasin snail.

Cheerio,
Ami

i've seen people recommend putting a piece of cucumber or similar in the tank over night then removing it the next morning with a bunch of the snails attached. i don't know what kind of snails this works for, but it might be worth a try.

Thanks Kendra.
Right now I think things are OK. I think its good to have some snails. I just smash the ones climbing up the walls and feed them to my fishies. The fight over the treat
