Snails won't come out of Shell

Hi I just got back from the LFS and purchased 4 mystery snails for breeding. I put them in the tank and they won't move. Is this normal? Its been an hour since I put them in.

Do you have any fish in your tank with the snails or are they alone? my experience with snails is they normally come out pretty quickly unless there is something that disturbs them.

There are a few baby platies but that is all.

The snails still haven't come out yet.

I wouldn't worry about it to much I had 2 ram horn snails in with my spotted green puffer and they hid in their shell for a week and didn't move... I thought they might be dead dropped them into a different tank and they are all over the place... give them a day or so and if you don't see them moving around start to worry then.

Check your water for ammonia and nitrites as snails don't do well when these are present and will stay in their shells. If the readings are 0 for these they may just need a couple days to acclimate.

Did they ever wake up and start moving around?
