Snail Breeding

I am getting a Dwarf Puffer soon and I have a 2.5 gallon tank that I'm thinking of breeding snails in. I just don't know what kind I can find easily in pet stores around here, I know Petsmart has Mystery snail, but can DP's eat them? I don't plan on putting much of a filter in it just a small one if any is needed. No heater because the heat of our house keeps it warm enough I think, tell me what you think. I can always buy a really small heater, I have the money. I just don't know if they make one small enough. Do I need to put gravel in it? What should I feed the snails? How do I know females form males? And how do I get them to breed? Thank you for all those who help.

DPs prefer to eat snails that fit their mouths. That's either ramshorns or physas. Mystery snails are meatier but far too slow to breed and rear. Look into ramshorns and physas. They are asexual and need their company to exchange sperm to trigger reproduction. No trumpet snails. They're very hard on the puffer teeth.

All you need is a sponge filter and a spare tank or tub. Overfeed a bit and the snails will boom in numbers.

I have the same, and got ramshorns. they're in my 5gal right now :D

I think I have physas, I got them at Petco they are tiny little snails that were considered pests and given to me for free? Are these the ones I need?

Jealous ^^. I just got the one ramhorn that migrated on a plant afaik. But I've got lots of Lymnaea Auricularia that make for a good clean up crew.
