Snail battle

So i witnessed 2 snails fighting, at least i think it was fighting. Two of those little brown snails that just multiply were on the front glass going in circles and whipping their shells at each other. We tried to take a video but it didnt turn out well.

Has anybody seen this before? And is it fighting or mating, cause i thought they were asexual.

I don't know for sure but I have witnessed this too. I thought it was mating considering the huge numbers showing up in my tank. I am currently over feeding to give the fry a fighting chance. I am not going to buy another tank for the fry but I want to give them a chance. I might regret that as the snails are trying to take over and the tank will be really full if all the fry grow to adulthood. lol

1 snail that has never been exposed to any other snail from the day it was born can turn to hundreds! Snails don't need partners to produce more snails. One hitch-hiking snail can cause a huge infestation! You need to use a method to control and eventially elimanate the snails.

You can put lettuce at the bottom of the aquarium and let it sit overnight. Turn the lights off. Come back next morning and remove the piece of lettuce covered with snails. Snails are nocternal so it would have to be early in the morning.

There are several ways to elimanate snails. Just do a little bit of internet research and use the one you like best.

What kind of fry are you raising in there?

Hope this helps!

I like my snails, I purposely add more food for them and the shrimp.

Now not only do they have intense battle, at least 1 has the ability to swim. I watched one hover in the water in front of a leaf, another (or possibly the same one) very slowly drop from a leaf to the ground, and then another (quite possibly the very same) go from the gravel to the top of the water attached to nothing.
